ITCABIC hosts biennial meeting of NDESA
Inter Territorial Bishops Conference of The Gambia and Sierra Leone (ITCABIC) hosts biennial meeting of National Directors of Pontifical Mission Societies in English Speaking Africa (NDESA).
From the 28th October to 6th November 2013, ITCABIC played host to the meeting of National Directors of English Speaking Africa of the Pontifical Mission Societies. The theme for the meeting was "Towards a Self Reliant Church in Africa". Fr. Timotheo Lehane, SVD, Secretary General for the Society for the Propagation of Faith and PMS Directors were present. Also present at the meeting were Bishops, Priests, Religious and Laity from all the Dioceses in the Conference.
The meeting started with an inaugural Mass Presided over by Most. Rev. Edward . T. Charles, Archbishop of Freetown. This was followed by an impressive opening session. The National PMS Director for Sierra Leone, Bishop Henry Aruna, delivered the welcome speech and gave an overview of the purpose and objectives of the biennial meeting. Statements were made by the Bishops who expressed their delight with the choice of ITCABIC as the host for the meeting.
A two-day study session also formed part of the meeting. Five facilitators delivered topics related to the theme of Self Reliance. The topic was discussed from the point of view of evangelization, the formation of priests and religious, evangelical movements, investments and sustainability.
The delegates also had a tour of the Provincial headquarter cities where they has an opportunity to visit the Dioceses and had interactive sessions with the Bishops and the Christian faithful.
